Audition to be a part of the 2016-2017 Team!

Prep Classes

Prep classes will be held in three sessions and are designed to help dancers prepare for auditions.  Areas of focus include technique, showmanship, and appearance.

Classes will be held at 300 North Akard Street #130, Dallas 75201 at 7:30 PM.  Each class costs $15 ($45 per session) and can be purchased individually or by session. Parking meters and public lots are available.

 

Session 1: August 22nd-24th 

Session 2: September 6th-8th

Session 3: September 13th-15th

Auditions

Check-In: 9:00 AM

When: Saturday, September 17th, 2016

Location: 1700 Rodeo Drive, Mesquite, TX 75149 at the Mesquite Convention Center. Free parking will be available the day of auditions. Please refrain from bringing family and friends as auditions are closed to the public.

Registration Process:

  1. Download MDD Application Packet and Waiver HERE

  2. Email completed application to: mesquitemarshalscheerleaders@gmail.com

  3. Pay your Audition Fee of $25 once you arrive at auditions at the Registration Table. CASH ONLY!

  4. Bring a government issued ID

  5. Photo (non returnable, for identification purposes only)

*Pre-registration is highly recommended! Late registration/

walk-ups will result in a $40 application fee.

Applications are DUE by September 1, 2016 by 8pm CST. 

AUDITION PROCESS

*Preliminary Round: Designed for Rookie Candidates to showcase skills through freestyle and technique progressions.

*Semi-Final Round: Veterans will join Rookie Candidates to learn and perform a Jazz combination.

*Final Round: All Candidates will learn and perform a hip-hop combination. A short interview will follow.

*Training Camp Candidates will be announced.

*Training Camp will be held Monday, September 19th-Thursday, September 22nd (additional details and location will be provided). Interviews will be held throughout Training Camp.

*Official Team will be announced Thursday, September 22nd, and the rehearsal schedule will be announced at this time.

AUDITION ATTIRE:  A two-piece, form fitting outfit and tights is mandatory.  Dancers can wear jazz shoes or tennis shoes with non-marking soles. While performing, NO jeans, baggy pants, over sized tees, skirts, flip flops, large tennis shoes, boots, jewelry, or combat boots will be allowed.

REQUIREMENTS:

*All dancers must understand the commitment to this team is a 150% effort at all times.

*All dancers must be enrolled in an educational institution or hold a job at a reputable place of employment.

*All dancers must be flexible with their schedules during the fall and spring months for weekend performances, photo and calendar shoots.

*All dance team members for the 2016-2017 season will be required to attend several community/charity appearances.

*It is highly recommended that all dancers have some type of dance/performance experience via school drill team, studio, church, community involvement or other performing outlets. 

*All dancers must be at least 18 years of age by September 17, 2016.
